Open Court: The FutureDate Posted: 30 October 2012 0 Comments
Open Court is back with another episode, titled "The Future". This time the panel debate on the top five players in the league today and the impact of "Super Teams." They also exchange insights on the team they would build if they were GM’s, the coaches they would like to play for and more.
Here are a few snippets from "The Future" episode:
Charles Barkley lists his candidates for the best coaches of all time: “John Wooden, Red Auerbach, Phil Jackson and Pat Summitt. In my opinion, those are the four greatest coaches.”
Chris Webber on his pick for the greatest coach: “I would say Red Auerbach. He promoted the game of basketball and unity for everyone. When you look at his legacy, it’s wins first and foremost, but after that it’s what he did for the game. I have always respected his wins but he also made sure the game was ok too.”
Steve Kerr on his pick for greatest coach and the challenges he faced managing to still win titles: “Every team has that [issues, egos, drama] every year. Playing for Phil Jackson, I was there for three championships. There was so much turmoil. We had contract disputes with Scottie Pippen every year. We had Dennis Rodman show up on our doorstep; nobody could coach Dennis Rodman. Phil Jackson won 11 titles and sifted through all the NBA ‘stuff’ [egos, drama, everything] and he won every single year.”
